This variety is a black version of the famous red Brandywine Tomato from America. The plants have leaves like potatoes and can reach up to 2 meters in height. The fruits weigh on average from 400 to 800 grams. The fruits of this variety do not have a lot of seeds and are extremely fleshy, so it is happily used for cooking as well as for salads or making sandwiches.
This tomato is rich, juicy and meaty with dark black / purple tones of fruit color. The fruits ripen in 80 days from germination. A variety that tastes great!
It is said to have been developed by a dentist who was an amateur plant breeder. Dr. Harold E. Martin. The variety was grown around the 1920s and became a local sensation. Brandivine has become one of the most popular varieties of tomatoes.
