Purslane Seeds

Portulaca grandiflora is the Latin name for the moss rose, a succulent, colorfully flowered plant native to the pampas region of Argentina. An annual plant, it dies back each year after it has produced seeds. The seeds are tiny and black. Some gardeners recommend sowing the seeds with sand so that they scatter uniformly throughout a bed. Horticulturists from the University of Arkansas Extension suggest cutting back seed heads to encourage repeat season blooming.
